Team-based means you perform with your friends and cheer each other on. As for the competition? Everyone gets to vote for their favorite performances using our mobile matchup scoring system – all to determine who will be crowned the next karaoke champions.

HOW MANY WEEKS ARE IN A SEASON?

A regular season is comprised of ten (10) weeks: eight (8) themed weeks plus two (2) playoff weeks. Each week has a specific theme that song selections must adhere to. Themes will be announced ahead of time so teams can prepare. Past themes include Anything Goes!, Songs from the Decade You Were Born, Boy/Girl Bands and Karaoke Roulette. The league may host six (6) week mini-seasons consisting of four (4) regular season weeks and two (2) playoff weeks.

HOW DO I CREATE A TEAM? CAN I SIGN UP AS A FREE AGENT?

We know not everyone has friends who enjoy karaoke as much as you do. That’s OK! If you have friends who want to join with you, you can create your team when you register for the season. You and your friends will be put on the same team. However you can also register as a “free agent” and be placed on an awesome team! Who doesn’t like making new friends?! There is a minimum of four (4) people per team. The maximum number of players is eight (8) performers for full seasons and six (6) performers for mini-seasons. If your team has less than eight (8) performers, additional “free agents” may be added to your team.

HOW ARE SONGS ADDED TO THE SONG BOOK?

If there’s a song that’s missing from our songbook, you can submit it here. Due to the complexity of purchasing and adding new songs, we will only add new songs every quarter. Please know we may not be able to get every song you want though. It may not exist as a karaoke track or it may not be licensed for public performance.

DO I HAVE TO BE AN AMAZING SINGER TO BE COMPETITIVE?

Karaoke, oddly, is not just about singing. It’s about being creative and having fun. You’ll earn votes based on your energy, costumes, props, choreography, or song choice. You definitely don’t have to be a great singer to be competitive, just have fun!

DO TEAMS REHEARSE?

Some teams get together outside of league to rehearse but many do not (and still win). Team members should communicate with each other before the season starts to decide what type of team you want to be (competitive, laid back, etc.). All are acceptable – it all depends on how you want to invest your time.

HOW DOES VOTING WORK?

Voting can only be done at the venue on the night of the event using our mobile matchup scoring system, found at www.votedk.com. Every week, teams go head-to-head in a random one-to-one matchup with another team for three (3) rounds. Whichever team has the most points after three rounds (two 4-point solo rounds and one 6-point group performance round) wins the matchup. Seasons standings can be found on the Performer Portal.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REGISTER? WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Current registration fees for each 10-week season can be found on our registration page. We do offer special discounts for registering in advance of set dates before a season begins. Fees go to paying our staff, purchasing song licenses, maintaining our website and voting system, league swag and other costs associated with running the league. We do not refund registration fees for any reason. However, registration may be deferred to a future season for extenuating circumstances.
